Binti Jua es un gorila de tierras bajas occidentales femenino en el parque zoológico de Brookfield, en Brookfield, Illinois. Binti conocida por un incidente que ocurrió el 16 de agosto de 1996, cuando tenía ocho años de edad.
Un niño de tres años de edad, subió a la muralla de su recinto zoológico y cayó 18 pies sobre hormigón, dejándolo inconsciente con una mano fracturada y una herid en un lado de su cara.

Binti caminaba al lado del chico mientras los espectadores gritaban impotentes, temiendo que la gorila haría daño al niño. Otro gorila grande hembra se acercó, y gruñó a Binti.

Binti recogió al niño, acunandolo con su brazo derecho como lo hizo con su propio hijo, le dio unas palmaditas en la espalda, y lo llevó a 18 metros (59 pies) a una entrada de acceso, por lo que el personal del zoológico podría recuperarlo. Su cría de 17 meses de edad Koola, estuvo agarrado a la espalda de su madre durante todo el incidente. El chico pasó cuatro días en el hospital y se recuperó plenamente.

Cosas como estas nos hacen preguntarnos quiénes son los verdaderos animales.
